Video: Discover how BCD Travel revolutionized corporate travel with Travelport Digital

BCD Travel, one of the largest TMCs in the world, partnered with Travelport Digital to develop their digital platform, Tripsource. The multi-device solution has been designed exclusively for BCD travelers to help them stay organized, informed and productive on the road.

We interviewed Will Pinnell, VP of Digital and Global Product Strategy at BCD Travel to find out more about the hugely successful TripSource platform, their vision for the future and what it’s like working with the team at Travelport Digital.

The modern traveler is on the go
From early on BCD Travel recognized that the nature of traveler experience was rapidly changing and understood the critical importance that mobile and digital was to play in its ability to take the stress out of travel, keep travelers safe and influence in-program behaviour.

Commenting in the video Will said, “Travelers are by very definition mobile, very rarely are they tethered to their desktop, so for us we have to think about ways travelers want to consumer information and increasingly it’s mobile, mobile-first”.

BCD Travel is an extremely innovative, forward thinking agency. They understand that travelers are increasingly looking to take control of their own trips as it is often easier and faster for them to do it themselves. Will adds “For us it’s an opportunity to not only reduce our costs but allow our customers to get faster service and in some cases, not have to pick up the phone at all”.

Developing a digital channel offered them not only the opportunity to enable their travelers to self-serve and reduce the friction on the road but also free up their agents time so they can concentrate on more complex travel requests.

Partnering with Travelport Digital
Travelport Digital has worked with BCD Travel on the TripSource platform since it launched back in 2013. Since then it has continued to evolve and grow, initially starting out as an itinerary management tool it has now become a great way to shop and book business travel and will soon become the primary service and experience platform for BCD Travel.

The continued success of TripSource by BCD Travel
The success of the app has continued to soar. It has been downloaded over 1 million times, has an average 4.5-star rating and has won multiple awards, most recently picking up the ‘2017 Outstanding Mobile Application’ in the Mobile Web Awards. Something that is extremely important to BCD Travel, as mentioned by Pinnell “The awards that TripSource has won mean a great deal to us, as it means we are being recognised not just by our travelers and our clients but by those in the industry".
